FOOTNOTES

Anne Louisa Falkner (1862-1933), the geneaologist who compiled this rather sparsely leafed Mead Family Tree, appended notes on certain members of it as follows:

aRobert Mead was an artillery officer. He and Grace Stevens married in Plymouth and they sailed for Nova Scotia. After his wife's death he abandoned his fammily and married again in Carlyle.

bJohn Savigny was an instrument maker in Worcester; his family was grown up when he married Elizabeth Mead.

cALF's rather cryptic comment on Samuel reads "Blown up at St. Kitts'

dGeorge Robert Stow Mead (1863-1933) was a well-known Philosopher and Theosophist, and a close associate of Madame Blavatsky. [Ed. note: See CORPUS HERMETICUM for a sample of his work as a translator.]

eElizabeth Mobbs was the daughter of James Mobbs and Elizabeth Gaskell. James was "Interpreter at the Court of Berlin"; a cultured gentleman whose antecedents and fate remain unknown.

Anne Falkner's notes on the Parsons family:
a Thomas Parsons was Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.
b Mary Parsons was possibly the Mrs Eykyn, governess of her nephew, William (later to turn Hindoo and become known as "The Nabob".)
c Another cryptic remark from ALF: "Last known owner of cup". Make of this what you will!
d All of Richard & Elizabeth's children were born at Nuthall - Boningale near Albrighton.
